My third going right now is a J-35 style Curly Cherry B&S with a Curly Maple backstrip bordered with black perf on either side.

Bearclaw Sitka Spruce top partially routed for rossett

Sides are thicknessed, bent and sitting in a holding mold

I am using another John Watkins neck - Mahog with Curly Maple lam. The headplate and back strip will be Spalted curley Maple, Fingerboard and bridge are IRW and the fingerboard and headplate will be bound using Curly Maple. LMI gold freight wire, Gold Grover 18:1 open backs.

This next is my first Classical attempt that is moving along in the batch with the others and is ready for assembly.

Beeswing Bubinga B&S - Engleman Spruce Top, dark walnut bindings - BRW bridge - IRW fingerboard.

The lighting in my little shop is rather dark with spots over workstations and I am to cheap to buy a better camera as well.

*sigh* Recently I thicknessed a piece of my stash of cherry, and it looks very familiar to yours; it's all sitting out there waiting to be worked on...if only I could grab some time.

I am still undecided about what bindings to use...do you mind telling me what you have chosen?

I'm gonna follow your build with interest; was the cherry easy to bend?

Sam, sorry for not answering both questions, the cherry bends really easy and nice, I thicknessed the sides down to .80 and when it heated to around 240 it started to give, I took it on up to about 290 for the complete bend. You will really enjoy working with this wood.

Hey Mike, looks great! Is this your first time using cherry? I too love it. My first was curly cherry from Steve at Colonial. I found it works beautifully and has hardly any pores to it at all. Takes a finish like crazy.

Thanks very much for posting that photograph. I was actually thinking of using EIR bindings, although the figure on my cherry wood ain't as wild and beautiful as that!!!!! WOW!!
